Morning, Noon or Night?
Morning, Noon or Night?
When is the best time to train? In terms of sports performance, flexibility, muscle strength and high power output early evening seems to be the best time for peak performance. So there are definitely more ideal times to train, however it really depends on a number of variables like season, personal schedule, location, type of session, previous training, temperature, daylight etc. There are benefits to training at each different time but ultimately it will come down to what works best for you and which allows you to get the most out of your sessions.
Morning
Training in the morning is a great way to start the day, actually one of the best ways to start the day. It can really turn a bad attitude into a positive one and set up your day to be a productive one. It may just take a little more time for our body to warm up when compared to later in the day or evening. The beauty of training first thing is that you have that sense of achievement that you carry with you all day and can enjoy doing what you need to for the rest of it.
Noon
Lunchtime sessions might be a good choice for those who have busy schedules and possibly get home too late to train. Temperature wise it can be the best or the worst time to train based on the season but may work nicely to break up a long day at the office and re-energise for the afternoon.
Evening
Physically this is possibly the best time to train as most body functions important to sports performance peak at this time. Again it may depend on your schedule and it will require a certain level of commitment to ensure you make it happen. Darkness and coldness can be factors to consider in winter but in the summer months we have the luxury of extra hours to move with.
In summary it really comes down to what works for you, your lifestyle, what fits in with your work/study/family and what will give you the best chance to create some great results.
