August 2011
Age: My age is relative to how I feel, which is younger than my actual age!
Status: Single
Children: 2, Daniel and Maddison who are awesome and inspire me in my role as a father.
Occupation: Health & Safety Manager at Dendrobium Mine
Town of Residence: Farmborough Heights
Favourite Hobby: Spending time with my children and friends, keeping fit, building houses in the third world to help to eliminate poverty housing, swimming, tennis, reading and riding my motorbike.
When did you start Savvy & Why: February this year to initially improve my running ability and crack the 60 minute barrier for the City to Surf event.
Favourite Class: I love all the classes I attend which are boxing, lift and interval running.
What do you enjoy most about Savvy: Savvy has become very much part of my routine of life. One of the most enjoyable aspects is meeting new people at Savvy as well as challenging myself and seeing the benefits of improved health and fitness and achievement of my personal goals. The trainers are fantastic, always encouraging and great role models.
What have you gained from Savvy, have you achieved any goals: Overall my level of fitness has improved and I have a better knowledge of the basics of exercise physiology, nutrition and training techniques. I have a desire to see what my limits are both physically and mentally and improving my fitness has allowed me to push those boundaries in different events. My sub 60 minutes in the City to Surf meant a lot to me as well as participating in the King of the Mountain event which was 32 kms mostly uphill and completing the Oxfam 100km Trailwalker event in 16 hours, 25 minutes. I am keen to push myself further when the opportunities come up as I believe our capabilities are only limited by our own boundaries we set.
Anything you would like to say: Thank you for this recognition, I know there are plenty of people who train with Savvy who deserve it more than I do. Thanks to Ange and the other trainers for your encouragement and I am looking forward to training in summer. Bring on the warm weather.
